Subject: Adult Family Fun
Leisure Suit Larry 2 (LSL2) was my first ever point and click game, I was 13 and I had just gotten it and an Atari STFM and the only thing that lay ahead of me was life. Games previous to this only told you what was in a room and which exits were available to you. This was like a godsend. Like discovering Windows XP from MS-DOS(and being a beginner at computers you MCSE's you).
Advertised as an adult game following the success of its predecessor Leisure Suit Larry (where you played Larry a 30-something virgin at the end of the 70's) LSL2 was only risque by comparision. In the style of spy spoof show 'Get Smart' with its Agent 69 and other double entendres it grabbed good ol' school boy humour and brought it right to our home computers (perfect for a 13 year old geek like me).
It is now the mid-late 80's, The girl of your dreams has kicked you out and you are penniless, homeless, balding and horny! Through hilarious mix-ups you are wanted by the evil spys of Doctor Nonookee, win a massive lottery pay-out and have won the dream date of a TV game show. Now you must go forth and look for love (in several wrong places)
The game is the brainchild of an Al Lowe who has created all but the most recent (which is not even mildy good) LSL games - he also invented the Internet, but that's another story. This is from when Sierra On-Line was a small Californian games studio ran by Ken and Roberta Williams. If you like point and click adventures in the style of Monkey Island or Grim Fandango then this is for you. But you do have to type in this one (and know your explosive cocktails!)
The theme tune is a killer too!
I cannot recommend this game highly enough!
